"The opening ceremony of the 76th Annual Meeting was also marked by tributes from the SBPC and UFPA to Brazilian scientists recognized for their legacy of contributions to the country's scientific and technological development." Among the scientists was PPGSA professor Edna Ramos de Castro.

Professor Emeritus at UFPA, Professor Edna Maria Ramos de Castro was also honored, having been highlighted as an Amazonian social scientist strongly committed to the purposes of social emancipation. "When I received the news (of the tribute), I was overcome by the deepest emotion, because I spent a large part of my life and dedicated it to UFPA and to the country's science and technology institutions, which allows the dreams of many, many generations who have passed through and will pass through this university to come true, as have I."
